Wassa Omenhene advise chiefs to register stool lands

Tarkwa (W/R) July 11, GNA- The Omanhene (paramount chief) of the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Osagyefo Dr. Kwamena Enimil VI, has directed chiefs in the traditional area to register all stool lands they lease to ensure proper documentation. To this end every land that is leased should be signed by the President of the Traditional Council.

According to the Omanhene, the forest cover in Wassa Fiase have been destroyed through building and mining activities, hence the need to protect remaining lands for posterity. Osagyefo Enimil gave the directive when he inaugurated the Western Region Land Management Board at Wassa Fiase Traditional Council Hall at Tarkwa.

He called on the chiefs to help the board to achieve its aim of streamlining land acquisition.

The Regional Stool Land Officer Mr. Patrick Amoah, who is a member of the board, expressed the need for proper layout of lands ahead of any development project, while public lands should be purchased by the District, Municipal and Metropolitan assemblies to enable them to use it for future projects.

He said the board would set up a district resolution committee to settle land issues out of court.

The board which is made up of 17 members has Nana Kwabena Angu II, Apinto Chief as Chairman. The rest are Nana Abena Apee III, Tufuhene, Prestea-Heman, Nana Kwandoh Brempong, Chief of Adum-Bamso and Mr. Samuel Donkor of Ghana Manganese company.

The rest are Mr. Liberty K Amamoo, Lands Commission, Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, Mr. Amua-Sekyi of Akudaa Chambers, Mr. Nkebi, Regional Surveyor, Nana Kwasi Sackey; Paramount Stool Elder, Ebusuapayin, Nana Kwasi Boadi II Chief of Tarkwa Breman and Nana Kwadu Kyerefo II, Sekyere-Heman Chief. 11 July 09
