NPP members urged to stop infighting

Kumasi, May 6, GNA - Madam Elizabeth Agyemang, Member of Parliament for the Oforikrom in Kumasi, has appealed to supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to desist from infighting and plan towards taking power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2012 general election. She called on party functionaries to close their ranks, unite and plan strategies that would enable them unseat NDC party in the next general election.

The MP said this at separate durbars at Kentinkrono and Bomso all in Kumasi during the inauguration of two 10-seater aqua privy toilet facilities for the communities over the weekend. The facilities, which were constructed in response to requests made by constituents during her campaign in 2008, cost GH¢50,000 and were funded from HIPC and her part of the MP's Common Fund. Madam Agyemang urged the NDC government not to abandon any development project initiated the former NPP government to enhance continuity and progress. Handing over the keys to the facilities, the MP cautioned the communities to see the structures as their own and adopt good maintenance culture. She distributed 200 National Health Insurance cards she had procured to some needy members of the two communities.

Madam Agyemang appealed to the communities to complement effort of the security agencies in the country by forming and supporting the operations of community watch committees to help reduce crime. Nana Owusu Afriyie, Chief of Kentinkrono who received the keys to the facilities, commended the MP for honouring her campaign promise. She said the toilets would save the people from the difficulties they had to go through due to the dilapidated nature of the old facilities.
