THE Akyem Oda Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Mr Prince Ofori-Atta, popularly known as Atta Play Boy, is dead.
Mr Ofori-Atta, a native of Obo-Kwahu, was among 10 persons who lost their lives on May 18 in a lorry accident at Akyem Akroso on the Agona Swedru-Akyem Oda trunk road.
According to a police source, Mr Ofori-Atta was travelling from Akyem Oda to Accra in a Mercedes Benz bus with registration number GR 2385 S when a VW LT bus with the registration number ER 7678 C, which was on its way to Oda from Koforidua crashed into it at Akroso.
The source said a bolt joint of the VW suddenly came off making the driver to lose control of the vehicle which veered off its lane and eventually crashed into the Benz bus.
The accident also claimed the life of the Chief Imam of Akyem Asene, near Oda, Mallam Rufai, popularly known as “ Alfaa”.
Among the numerous persons who sustained various degrees of injuries are Mr Samuel Abudu, a famous photographer at Oda, who had a fractured leg and hand and is recuperating at the St Joseph’s Hospital at Koforidua, and Master Akwaboah, a student of the Ghana Secondary School, Koforidua, who is on admission at the Koforidua Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, Mr Ofori-Atta will be buried at Oda on Saturday, June 16.
