Man arrested for defecating in classroom

Apam(C/R), Feb. 4, GNA - The Apam District Magistrate court presided over by Mr Charles Wiafe, has ordered the parents of an accused person to help the police to send their relative, George Owusu who defecated in classroom at Gomoa Tarkwa to a psychiatric hospital for mind evaluation.

"I am not trying to suggest that the accused is mad but his behaviour seems as if he has a little psychiatric problem and if he has to be treated, the hospital will do that".

The court granted Owusu who pleaded guilty in the sum of 500 Ghana Cedis to re-appear before the court on March 2 this year. Briefing the court, Chief Inspector George Amponsah, prosecution told the court that on January 25, 2009, at Gomoa Tarkwa, the accused unlawfully damaged a window and a lock of the Islamic Primary School and defecated in the primary six classroom. The prosecution said some passers-by who saw Owusu therefore made a report to the police who arrested him.
