Special Voting Begins

Accra, Dec. 23, GNA - Voting in the 2008 Presidential Election Runoff by special duty staffs is progressing steadily throughout the country with no untoward incident being reported so far. Security services personnel and other workers, who would be on duty on December 28 2008, are voting on Tuesday.

At the Cantonments Police Station Polling Centres of the Dade Kotopon Constituency where about 4,000 voters are expected to cast their votes, everything was progressing smoothly when the Ghana News Agency visited at 0835 hours. The Presiding Officer of Polling Centres Three and Four, Mr Enoch Dornu said voting started on schedule at 0700 hours and there had been no incident.

He said 152 voters had cast their ballot at Polling Centre Three while 306 had done so at Polling Centre Four. He said the agents of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) had reported. The Agents told the GNA that they were satisfied with what had gone on so far.

All the four polling centres had long queues of voters waiting patiently to cast their vote.
