Clear the issue of composition of Parliament

Apam (C/R), Dec. 18, GNA - The Omanhene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, Obrifo Ahunaku Ahor Ankobea II has called on the Clerk of Parliament to clear the issue of the composition of majority and minority members in the House.

"Ghanaians need to know whether Independent members of the House could be part of the Majority or Minority," the Paramount Chief said and added that "this could bring to rest claims and counter claims by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as to which of them forms the majority in parliament. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, Obrifo Ahor Ankobea said the issue was the subject of confusion among supporters of the two parties and said the earlier it was cleared the better it would be for sustaining peace.

He commended Ghanaians, especially the Electoral Commission, security agencies, political parties and the media for their roles in ensuring that the December 7 elections were conducted in a peaceful manner.

The Paramount Chief however appealed to them to exhibit the same maturity in the presidential run-off to prove to the outside world that Ghana was really a peace-loving country.
