Fishermen catch colleague's body during fishing

Apam (C/R) Nov. 25 GNA - The body of Kwesi Tawiah, a 35-year old fisherman who got drowned in the sea at Apam in the Central Region on November 22 this year was on Monday retrieved by a group of fishermen on fishing expedition in Apam.

Opanyin Kwesi Nkwanta, an uncle to the deceased who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in Apam on Monday, said Tawiah fell from the canoe on which he and some fishermen had gone fishing on November 22 around 1900 hours. According to his Uncle, when he fell into the sea and he was not seen again.

He said another company that was fishing in the area on Monday cast their net only to find the body of Tawiah entangled in it and therefore brought it ashore and informed the police. Opanyin Nkwanta said both the police and the health authorities who suspected no foul play have recommended that it should be buried immediately to avoid an outbreak of an epidemic. He said as result the body that was in a very bad state has since been buried. 25 Nov. 08
