NPP did not believe in Ghana - Nana Konadu

Ashaiman, Nov. 12, GNA -- Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, former First Lady has accused the leadership of New Patriotic Party (NPP) of deceiving Ghanaians that their Party believed in Ghana. Nana Konadu said the ruling Party was misleading the electorate to have confidence in the Party's 'I Believe in Ghana' slogan while in reality they believed in themselves.

"They do not believe in Ghana, they rather believe in themselves, relatives, Ministers and their girlfriends," she said.

Nana Konadu made the accusation on Tuesday when addressing a National Democratic Congress (NDC) rally at Ashaiman in Ashaiman Constituency after interacting with traders at the Ashaiman main market. Nana Konadu who is also Founder of 31st December Women's Movement said the NPP did not believe in Ghana since they lied, cheated and mismanaged the country.

She said NPP stole the "Moving Forward" slogan from the NDC explaining that the NDC titled its 1996 manifesto as "Moving Ghana Forward."

Nana Konadu appealed to Ghanaians to vote the NPP out of power because their continued stay in governance would bring undue hardship and harassment to the people.

She said the better way to move Ghana forward was to change government. Madam Sherry Ayittey, a leading member of NDC accused the NPP of practicing a "democracy of tyranny, wickedness and intimidation." She called on the electorate to vote massively for the NDC describing "December 7, as a day of liberation from poverty, darkness and injustice."

Madam Ayittey said even though the NPP accused the NDC of leaving behind 41 trillion cedis debt, they had accrued a debt of 93 trillion dollars in seven years.

Mr Alfred Agbesi, Member of Parliament for Ashaiman asked activists and supporters of the Party to vote for him and Professor John Evans Atta Mills, NDC Presidential Candidate on December 7. Nana Konadu and her entourage later visited Tema Community One Market to campaign for NDC where majority of the traders responded by calling for a change.
