GHANSU salute US president-elect

Accra, Nov. 7, GNA - The Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU) has congratulated president-elect of the United States of America, Barack Obama for his resounding victory in the just ended Presidential elections. A statement issued and signed by Mr Abraham Boakye, Chairman of the Association who also doubles as the President of the 'Friends of Obama Club' said the election of Obama brings to an end the tentacles of racial discrimination and gives a way to a new global order. "Henceforth there shall not be the resort to colour, creed, religion and all forms of discriminatory tendencies that impedes human development". The statement said. The statement said the good people of USA have indeed voted to embrace change and demonstrated 'the can do' spirit of the world's leading nation.

According to the statement Obama's victory was a triumph for American's commitment to democracy, welfare of humanity and for progress for today's challenging socio, politico and economic environment. "Americans have indeed voted to encapsulate the big dreams of the founding fathers of democracy who foresaw one strong nation, united under the coat of arms of the world's great nation. "A nation governed by virtuous and honest persons whose contributions to the world are noble and worth-emulating". It added. It said even though the country is engulfed in intractable and uncertain future of the ongoing world's financial crisis, an Obama-led government will provide a new leadership capable of overcoming all the difficulties.

The statement said the victory has sent a transcending happiness, high-sense of global renewal and hope for the future of the youth and posterity adding "an African has won the highest office of America and his occupation of the White House is indeed a great novelty of our time", for which all Africans are proud of. 06 Nov. 08
