Adansi Asokwa (Ash), Oct. 27, GNA - Dr. Edward Mahama, the People's National Convention (PNC), presidential candidate for Election 2008, said if voted into power, the party would legalise activities of illegal miners (Galamsey) in the Country.
He expressed worry that even though many of the youth were into "Galamsey", there was no clear cut policy to regulate it. Dr Mahama was addressing a political rally at Adansi-Asokwa near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region at the weekend, as part of a five-day tour of the Region to solicit votes.
He said the PNC would improve upon sanitation, water supply, health care delivery and that inadequate toilet facilities in the country had resulted in the outbreak of communicable diseases.
Dr. Mahama said as part of the party's intended "Health Maintenance and Organisation", Ghanaians would be mandated to undertake at least two medical checks a year to enable them to know their health status for preventable health care.
He said the PNC would motivate teachers to give off their best to enhance education in the country. 27 Oct. 08
