Maame Dokono Blames Mrs Rawlings

Ms Grace Omaboe, affectionately called Maame Dokono, has vented her anger at the former first family for being the cause of her defection to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The former parliamentary aspirant for Birim North constituency, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, said she was tormented by Nana Konadu Agymang Rawlings and had to abandon the party out of frustration.

"What I have gone through my dear," she told Joy News Sammy Darko, "nobody knows. I have been quiet for a long time."

She alleged that at a point in time: "Nana Konadu sent soldiers to my house to collect the car that I was using for the 'By the Fire Side'."

The television star refuted the perception that she is an opportunist.

"I want people to know that the NDC didn't make me who I am, before I joined the NDC, I had four houses, I had already affected the people of Ghana, at least women and children."

Ms Omaboe has not formerly informed the NDC about her move.

She said it is unnecessary for her to do so because; "I didn't even have a membership card.they drove me out of the party".

The gender activist explained that she joined the NPP because of its soft spot for issues on women and children, and commended the party for that.

She mentioned the Capitation Grant, free maternal care for women, and among others, the enactment of the Domestic Violence Bill as a plus for the NPP government.

She has since been canvassing votes for the NPP, the recent one being the party's rally at Takoradi where it introduced the running mate and outdoored its manifesto.
