Atta Mills defies local punctuality syndrome

Accra, Aug. 4, GNA - Professor John Evans Atta Mills on Monday defied the popular local punctuality syndrome by appearing 10 minutes before the advertised time whilst the organizers, the Association of Road Contractors (ASORC) and the Association of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors of Ghana (ABECEG) were not ready.

Prof. Atta Mills, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flag bearer for Election 2008, noted for his punctuality patiently waited for over 40 minutes for the commencement of the Fourth Forum for flag bearers of political parties organized by the two bodies.

The former Vice President, was leading members of the party including, Ms Hannah Tetteh, Communications Director; Alhaji Said Sinare, Second National Vice President; Hajia Marian Sinare, Deputy National Women Organizer; Mr Danny Annang, Greater Accra Regional Chairman; Mr Steve Akorli, former Minister of Transport and Mr Kwame Peprah, former Minister of Finance to interact with the executives and members of the two bodies.

The forum being organized by the ASORC and ABECEG is to offer the flag bearers opportunity to outline their policies for revamping the construction and building industries in Ghana.

Several ASORC and ABECEG leaders told the Ghana News Agency; "We are impressed and embarrassed by the Prof's punctuality. We hope this would be translated into leadership when he becomes the president." Prof. Atta Mills used the platform to outline reforms that the NDC would embark on to revamp the construction industry.
