Christians urged to pray for peace

Kumasi, July 28, GNA - Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has charged political parties and their supporters not to do anything that will undermine the peace and unity in the country. He said there was the need for party supporters to see themselves first as Ghanaians and strove to build on the unity and cohesion that existed among all people in the country to sustain peace and economic development. Nana Akufo-Addo made the call when he joined members of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church to climax their annual crusade in Kumasi on Sunday. The three-day crusade was under the theme: "Keep the Fire Burning".

Nana Akufo-Addo said the world was looking up to Ghana, which had been described as a model of peace and reminded political activists to conduct themselves in a manner that would help sustained the peace. He also appealed to Christians to pray fervently to God to ensure peace before, during and after the general elections. The flagbearer said the election was not about fighting but a means to consolidate the country's democracy, adding that, unity was very important in the nation's development. Right Reverend Ben Nuh Abubekr, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, urged Christians to continue to preach peace at all times. He advised all Christians to go out in their numbers on December 7 to cast their votes. Bishop Abubekr advised members of the Church to desist from all negative activities and work to promote peace and unity of the country.
