Vote for NPP to show appreciation of dev't - Mac Manu

Accra, July 16, GNA - Mr Peter Mac Manu, National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has appealed to the people of Ada Constituency to vote massively for the party in December to show appreciation for the massive infrastructural development in the area. A statement issued by the party's headquarters said Mr Mac Manu made the appeal when he inaugurated the constituency's campaign and resource centre at Ada at the weekend.

Mr Mac Manu said the NPP government had been more than fair to Ada with respect to road construction, provision of potable water and electricity in areas that had, thitherto, been deprived of these facilities, as well as building and equipping of schools and other projects.

"All these are in addition to other progressive policies and programmes of the NPP government, such as capitation grant and school feeding programmes that have completely revolutionized education in Ghana, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Youth Employment, fee-free education and free medical care for pregnant women among others," he said.

The NPP National Chairman said for the party showing such goodwill and commitment to the people of Ada, "they should, in their turn, reciprocate with a massive vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the presidential slot and Mr Kofi Plahar, the party's parliamentary candidate, in the December elections".

Mr Mac Manu urged all young people who had attained the age of 18 to register when the voters' registration exercise commenced so that they could vote for the NPP in the elections.

He reminded them that the party was a national political entity and cut across religion, ethic affiliation and sex and urged the people of Ada to reject all those who advocated violence of any kind before, during and after the elections.

"This is a peaceful nation and the NPP is a party that cherishes peace and has done everything to ensure that Ghana remains an oasis of peace in the region," he said.

Mr Mac Manu appealed to party members to allow access to the centre by all residents of the constituency without regard to political or other affiliation while he pledged his support for the constituency. Mr Plahar expressed his gratitude as well as the party's to Nene Akiti II, Wetsoyi of Kudjragbe Division Council, for donating the building to the party.

Mr Plahar said the centre was a one-stop office for information mobilization and dissemination in the constituency with facilities including computer and printer, radio and television set and a selection of indoor games.

He appealed to the people to give him their support and also vote for Nana Akufo-Addo. 16 July 08
