More Voltarians are accepting NPP -Akufo-Addo

Hohoe (V/R), Feb 25, GNA - Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the weekend said there was a new wave of political intercourse between the Party and the people of Volta region.

"It was time the Party and the people of the region forged a permanent marriage, recent signs are encouraging," he said.

"I'm confident that the Ghanaian electorate is high awake and ready to renew the mandate of the NPP", he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo made these remarks when he called on Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area at his palace in Hohoe on Saturday to formally introduce himself as the presidential candidate of the NPP for the forthcoming elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the improving relationship between the NPP and the Volta region was an attestation that government's policies and projects were affecting the people positively.

He said the upcoming elections were critical in the nation's

development course and appealed to traditional authorities to

support national efforts towards a smooth transition. Togbega Gabusu implored politicians to be wary of their

utterances during the electioneering campaign to avoid

plunging the country into insecurity and turmoil. He urged them to focus on issues that would address the

aspirations of the people rather than being mediocre, partisan

and petty. Togbega Gabusu commended the NPP for coming from

congress stronger and united and urged the Party to show the

same level of maturity during the elections in December. Nana Akufo-Addo's entourage included Dr Kofi Konadu

Apraku, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman and Nana Ohene Ntow,

NPP General Secretary.
