Stock index inches up in slow trading

Accra, Aug. 23, GNA - The main stock index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) went up in trading on Thursday but volumes remain low. The GSE All-Share Index ended higher by 2.59 points at 5,489.81 points from 5,487.22 points on Wednesday. Change for the year ended higher at 9.66 per cent from 9.61 per cent.

Shares that changed hands went up to 304,400 from 257,200 and market capitalisation rose to 11,666.39 million GH cedis from 11,664.80 million GH cedis.

There were four price changes, all positive.

Ecobank Ghana Limited gained 0.0085 GH cedis at 1.5100 GH cedis, Enterprise Insurance was 0.0001 GH cedis higher at 1.2002 GH cedis, Ghana Commercial Bank was GH=A20.0005 higher at GH=A20.8010 and Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited gained 0.0005 GH ceis at 0.9665 GH cedis.
