Tema ICU decides on Kpoh

Tema, Aug. 08, GNA -- The Tema branch of Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) on Wednesday passed a resolution in support of the National Executive Council's (NEC) decision to appoint an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to run affairs of the National Union with effect from August 11.

The resolution was passed at an Emergency General Meeting held by the NEC of ICU in Tema.

They resolved that a probe be conducted into the administration of Mr Napoleon Kpoh, General Secretary of ICU. They also pledged to co-operate with the IMC in steering affairs of the Union until fresh elections were conducted to elect new executives. The members contended that the NEC's action in appointing an IMC was not only appropriate, but in line with the Union's Constitution. In ensuring that NEC was respected, they resolved to act dutifully by all standards and support its decisions.

Members expressed concern about the manner the union's finances were administered, and pointed out that if the finances were well managed, the Eighth Quadrennial Delegates' Congress would have taken place.
