Matthew Tetteh joins CPP chairmanship race

Accra, July 26, GNA - Mr Matthew N. Tetteh, former Head of Details and Special Advisor to Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, on Thursday announced his intention to contest the chairmanship of the Convention People's Party (CPP).

"I will like to join those brothers who have opted to contest for the position of Chairman and leader of the CPP when the position becomes constitutionally vacant," he said in a statement copied to the Central Committee of the party.

Mr Tetteh said his decision to join the race was taken after "a long patient observation of political events in the country" as a whole and within the Patriots, a pressure group in the CPP, in particular. He said there were several reasons that accounted for his decision, although he was aware that he was not young, and promised to make the reasons for his decision public in due course.
