NPP Government Failures Now Unbearable - CPP

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) over the weekend accused the NPP Government of making empty promises to Ghanaians and running “ Government By Headlines”.

In separate Radio interviews in London the Branch Chairman – Nii Armah Akomfrah told radio listeners that solving the Energy crisis was a case which aptly demonstrates the Government’s hollow noises. “ The crisis was to be solved in two weeks the President promised in his sessional address 7 months ago, then two months, then August, then September, now its anyone guess when this government will be able to solve the basic problems of water and electricity”, Mr Akomfrah said.

In a separate interview on Radio Afrik Mr Akomfrah told his host Nana Sarpong that “the catalogue of NPP failures grows by the day, but instead of real measures to tackle these issues the Government is concentrating on seeking to capture Newspaper headlines everyday with empty promises.

In other interviews on Sunday and Monday the Vice Chairman of the Branch Mr Oduro Kwateng told listeners that CPP resurgence will grow and grow and would ultimately be felt in every village in Ghana. He said the situation we are in now was such that the plight of ordinary people is campaigning for the CPP. Mr Oduro - kwateng said “Akosombo is campaigning for CPP! Poverty is campaigning for CPP! Corruption is campaigning for CPP! Bad Governance is campaigning for CPP”, he repeated what seems to becoming a mantra among CPP circles saying, “that dear old lady the Akosombo which has served Ghana so well has been neglected by the NPP and the NDC that the old lady herself is yeaning for a return to CPP Government.”

In a Press Release to the media the CPP stated - “ there is a national crisis of monumental proportion in several areas of our national life , that the social cohesion of our country is under threat from a myriad of socio-economic problems with issues such as petty tribalism, corruption, cronyism, street children and street grandchildren, gun crime, drug trafficking and abuse, also posing challenges for all of us, that since the 1980’s the economic paradigm dictated by outsiders has dominated our politics , that most Ghanaians have suffered during this time whilst foreign interests have gained and been the main beneficiaries of much of the economic activity from our country” The party said further that the specifics of NPP failures has become unbearable for the populace noting the following :

• CORRUPTION: The NPP’s questionable Hotel banking irregularities, $50m Presidential Palace, that many believe to be half the price; the $800m COCOBOD loan, the IFC/CNTI bogus $1Billion Hair Salon Loan fiasco all point to NPP kleptocracy.

• ECONOMIC CRIMES :divestiture of State Owned Enterprises to foreigners and domestic cronies that has robbed Ghanaians of collective wealth building plus job losses, not to mention the Energy crisis under NPP rule which is causing a multi-$bn financial loss to the Ghana economy via reduced production and factory shut downs.

Giving money to Chinese Textile industry whilst Ghanaian Textile industries are dying.

The recent proposal to sell off the Agricultural Development Bank, set up by the CPP to help our hard working farmers and their families get the necessary loans to grow out of poverty,

• HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS – The Alhaji Mobila murder and the millions of Ghanaians who remain in slum dwellings in abject rural poverty conditions are crimes against humanity. Not to mention the increasing numbers of Street Children under the NPP watch.

• DISRESPECT/INSENSITIVITY TO GHANAIANS with the ongoing lack of accountability and transparency in many dealings.

• BAD GOVERNANCE demonstrated in the NPP government’s waste and misplaced national priorities, such as the use of huge loans for a Presidential Palace, instead of urban slum renewals to improve quality of life for Ghanaians.

The statement ended with the CPP saying it has the track record ,vision and historic mission to liberate Ghana and create opportunities for all Ghanaians to pursue freedom, work and happiness, that a CPP Government would finally make Ghanaians masters of their own destiny.

Forward Ever! Backward Never!
