BOST increases supply of kerosene

The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) said on Friday that it has increased the weekly supply of kerosene on the market by two-thirds from 1.5 million litres to 2.5 million litres. A statement issued in Accra by Dr Kwabena Donkor, Acting General Manager of BOST, said following reports of acute shortage of the product, "some unscrupulous persons" have been exploiting the rural communities.

It said District Chief Executives have been requested to submit a list of areas where shortages have been recorded or where traders are taking undue advantage of rural communities for political gains.

A special programme has been worked out to cater for the need of exploited communities, it said. "We wish to assure the general public that there are enough stocks to meet the needs of the consuming public. We are also appealing to the consuming public to report all such unscrupulous dealers and traders to the law enforcement agencies," the statement said.
