Three Legon students win award

The University of Ghana on Tuesday announced the institution of the Club 500 Scholarship Awards for the 2000-2001 academic year.

The Award was set up by a voluntary association of Friends of the University in the USA, known as Club 500.

A statement issued in Accra said three awards would be made this academic year at a total value of 600 dollars, with each student receiving 200 dollars.

It said the criteria for the selection are based on the needs and performances of the awardees.

Those who have won the award for this year are Ms Elizabeth Sam (Level 200) and Ms Victoria Tettey (Level 400), both of the Mensah Sarbah Hall and Mr Anthony Sedzro (Level 200) of Commonwealth Hall.

The University commended Club 500 for their initiative and concern and hoped the awards would bring some relief to the recipients in their academic pursuits.

"The University is especially grateful to Professor Stephen Asare, Professor of Accounting, University of Florida, for leading the effort."
