Tamale Children's Home lacks Lactating milk

Tamale, Dec 23, GNA- The Tamale Children's Home at Nyohini lacks lactating foods for children at the home making it difficult for the personnel to take good care them, Madam Beatrice Agyemang, Assistant Supervisor of the Centre had said.

Madam Agyemang made this known when she received assorted food items from the Tamale South District Women's Movement of the Church of Pentecost on Saturday for the upkeep of the children.

The items included loaves of bread, rice, eggs, soap, milk and cooking oil valued at two million cedis and a cash of 200,000 cedis. She said even though the orphanage was under the Department of Social Welfare, funds from the government for the running of the Home had not been regular.

This accounts for the inability of the staff to purchase milk and other food items to feed the children, and appealed to the public and individuals to come to their aid.

Madam Agyemang said some of the challenges facing the home include the lack of portable water and electricity, as well as transport to send the children to hospital when they get sick, especially in the night. Madam Dina Oppong Adjei, leader of the Tamale South District Women's Movement said as a Christian organisation, it was obliged to share its cake with the underprivileged in society.

She said the Movement had been touched by the constraints facing the Home and that the donation was a sign of appreciation for all the efforts the staff at the orphanage was making towards the upkeep of the children.

Madam Adjei called on Christians to emulate Jesus Christ by sharing with the underprivileged in society to make life bearable for them.
