Bantamahene challenges Otumfuo's accusers

Kumasi, Oct. 17, GNA - The Bantamahene, Baffuor Asare Owusu Amankwatia V, has challenged any person or group of persons with evidence to show that Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Asantehene, had any connection with the issues that were investigated by the Georgina Wood Committee to come out publicly and announce it.

He said some mischievous people were trying to misinform the people of this country and in the process had shown total disrespect to the Asantehene, the occupant of the golden stool.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Monday, Baffuor Amankwatia, who is also the Osahene (Chief warrior) of Otumfuo, said =93some uninformed troublemakers, who style themselves as journalists and commentators with no discernable history of achievement have taken advantage or being used to invent a non-existent issue to create confusion in this country'.

He said there were some mischievous people in the country that had made it their occupation to attack and denigrate any good thing emerging from the Manhyia Palace.

Baffuor Amankwatia, said as a chief warrior, he would not sit by for 'strangers to denigrate the divine golden stool of Asanteman and the occupant of the stool' and pledged the unflinching loyalty and allegiance of all paramount chiefs, chiefs and people of Asanteman both home and abroad to Otumfuo Osei Tutu.

He said the people of Asanteman were prepared and ready to protect and defend the Asantehene at the peril of their lives at all times. 17 Oct. 06
