University of Ghana: Call For Papers

UNIVERSITY OF GHANA FACULTY OF LAW

CALL FOR PAPERS

As part of activities being organised by the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, to celebrate Ghana’s 50th anniversary as an independent state, the Faculty is organising a Law Conference under the theme:

Ghana Law since Independence: History, Development and Prospects

Conference date: November 16-17, 2006

Papers, which will be published at the end of the conference, are being solicited from current and past members of the Faculty of Law, as well as other members of the legal profession and the Bench. Papers are intended to have both a historical content and a current relevance to the development and study of law in Ghana. They must be quality writings which are expected to basically answer the following questions on the chosen subject:

What was it at the time of independence? What changes occurred or should have occurred in the immediate post-independence period? What other changes, if any, have since occurred or should have occurred? What factors facilitated those changes or were a hindrance to change? Have the changes been for the good or otherwise on the development of law in Ghana? Or how could the changes have been good for the development of law in Ghana? Looking into the future, what could it become and/or how can it be made better?

Reference format should be based on the Review of Ghana Law standards. All areas of law are expected to be covered at the Conference and in the publication. Interested persons are to submit a page-long abstract of their paper by 30 June 2006. Development of a final paper should be ready by October 15, 2006.

You may submit your abstract by email to Dr. Kwadwo Appiagyei-Atua (appiagyeiatua@yahoo.fr) or Ms Ama Afful (ama_afful@yahoo.com); or by snail mail through the Law Faculty, University of Ghana, PO Box LG 70, Legon. You may contact us by phone at 021 500304.
