Government committed to equitable development

The Volta Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Dzamesi said at the weekend that the people of the Region should support the Government’s development agenda to enhance the Regions socio-economic development. He said the Government was committed to the equitable distribution of national resources, irrespective of voting patterns, saying, several development projects had been completed with others in the process of completion in various parts of the region.

Mr Dzamesi told the GNA that several development projects had been completed with others in the process of completion in various parts of the Region.

Mr Dzamesi said besides the projects, all Government interventions to raise the living standards of the people were being pursued actively in the Districts.He said a Secretariat of the Government Micro-Finance Project, under which budding businesses would be supported with low interest credits to expand, would soon be opened at Ho.

Mr Dzamesi said this was the biggest challenge to the private sector in the Region, which had complained of lack of credit facilities for a long time but cautioned that only people with viable projects would have access to the loans.

He said efforts were also being made by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) in collaboration with the relevant organizations to market tourist attractions in the Region.
