Accra, June 14, GNA - A draft energy policy that would serve as a guide to Ghana's energy requirement has been prepared. Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, Minister of Energy, who announced this on Wednesday, said copies of the draft would be made available for inputs by stakeholders.

The Minister said this when he received Mr Gordon Wetherell, the United Kingdom Ambassador to Ghana.

He said the Government was putting in all efforts and resources needed to improve the energy requirements of the country. Mr Adda touched on renewable energy supply, construction of hydro-electric facilities and strengthening of energy conservation policies as areas where attention would be placed.

Mr Wetherell said his Mission was to reassure the Minister and the Government of the UK's continued support and commitment to maintain a positive relationship with Ghana.

He said the UK Government recognised the key role energy played in the growth and economic development of a country and would lend support to efforts to improve the needs of the country.
