VRA restores power to Northern and U/E Regions

Accra, April 24, GNA - The Volta River Authority announces that electricity supply has been restored to the Northern and Upper East regions.

Power was restored at 1530 hours on Saturday, April 22, 2006. As announced in the press statement of April 22, 2006, the Northern and Upper East regions had power outage on Friday, April 21, 2006, affecting supply to customers of the Northern electricity Department in both regions.

A statement signed by Ms. Abla Fiadjoe, Acting Director, Corporate Services Department said, power was also restored to the Tamale Water Works on Sunday, April 23 at 1530 hours after 16 wooden poles were erected to replace three towers that collapsed during a rainstorm. "We wish to thank our customers in the Northern and Upper East regions for their patience and understanding, while we worked to restore power."
