Batanyaa Chief initiates project to enhance status of people

Abura-Batanyaa (C/R), April 23, GNA - The Chief of Abura-Batanyaa in the Aburaa-Asiebu-Kwamankese District of the Central Region, Okutupon Fuah IX, is single-handedly financing the construction of a 200 million-cedi community centre to enhance the socio-economic status of his people.

Nana Fuah, a businessman, has so far spent 80 million cedis on the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. This came to light at a fund-raising harvest organised by the Chief and his people in aid of an electrification project as part of activities to mark Easter on Saturday.

It coincided with the commissioning of a 10 million-cedi market facility provided by the Chief. The DCE, Mr Louis Bessa-Simon, commended Nana Fuah for his contribution towards the socio-economic development of the village, saying the provision of the market was a great relief to the assembly.

The DCE stressed the need for other citizens of the village to assist the assembly to provide more projects to complement government's effort at bringing development to the doorsteps of all Ghanaians.

Mr Bessa-Simon said the assembly had constructed a primary school building for the village and is currently constructing a culvert to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Nana Fuah urged the people to rekindle their communal spirit to enable them to embark on more development projects. He announced that he would assist 20 women in the village with a total of five million cedis to step up their income-generating activities.

An amount of three million cedis was realised at the harvest.
