Zoomlion undertakes mass spraying of mosquitoes

Nsawam, Nov 25, GNA - Mr Johennes Danso Obeng, Eastern Regional Vector Control Officer for ZoomLion Limited, a sanitation company Zoomlion, has led a team of environmental officers to spray the breeding grounds of mosquitoes in the Akuapem South Municipality.

He used the exercise to educate the people to clean their environment to prevent the raising of mosquitoes and flies. Mr Obeng told the Ghana News Agency at Nsawam that Zoomlion initiated the programme three years ago in the New Juaben Metropolis in the Eastern Region and the records showed that cases like cholera, malaria and other communicable diseases had reduced drastically. Mr Jacob Tetteh Kugbeadjor, Akuapem South Municipal Mosquito Control Officer, said the exercise would be extended to other parts of the region. Some of the communities the team sprayed comprised; Aburi, Gyankama, Kitaase, Konkonuru, Ahwerease, Nsawam, Adoagyiri, Ayigbetown and Adoagyiri Zongo and Sakyikrom.

Mr Christopher Kwabena Asubonteng, Municipal Environmental Health Officer, commended the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for teaming up with ZoomLion to undertake the exercise.
