The newly appointed Minister for Inner-Cities and Zongo Development, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has revealed that he personally requested to be moved from the Information ministry to Inner-Cities and Zongo Development because he wanted to take on a new challenge.

“It just got to a point where really and truly you have to look for another challenge” he told Francis Abban on Starr Fm.

According to him, after serving President Akufo-Addo for almost twelve years as spokesperson, it was time to assume a higher role and a challenging one at that.

“You remember that I have done this job, if plus the ministerial portfolio will be eleven and half years, eleven and half years as spokesperson for candidate Akufo-Addo for ten years and spokesperson and minister for information for president Akufo-Addo for one and half years, that makes eleven and half or a little over half” he said.

Contrary to opinions that his removal from the Information Ministry was as a result of comments he made in response to Finance Minister Ken Ofori Attah’s position on the controversial free SHS, which necessitated the reshuffle of some 15 ministers, he said he had always wanted the opportunity to serve in the Zongo’s.

“I wanted a new challenge after being in the communication space a little over 11 years

“As a Zongo Boy, I owed the community. I have taught in various makaranta schools but I think there is more I can do,” he said.
