Youth urged to avoid excessive alcohol consumption

Dr. Steve Ogbordjor, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), First Class Group of Companies, has entreated the youth to avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and hard drugs.

He said this could damage their livers and they may end up suffering from cirrhosis of the liver which would eventually lead to bleeding, growing lean, enlarged belly and vomiting of blood.

The CEO said the only cure for cirrhosis of the liver was to have a liver transplant and this according to him was not presently performed in Ghana.

Dr. Ogbordjor gave the advice at Wasa Agona in the Tarkw Nsueam Municipality when his firm commissioned an ultra modern private mortuary.

He said the construction of a mortuary does not mean his outfit was praying for people to die, but that they have come to accept that mortuary was a social service every Ghanaian needed.

"I think just as we need chop bar, restaurant, hospital and a maternity home then we need a mortuary", He noted.

He also appealed to the youth and elderly who were addicted to all forms of substances like cocaine, heroin, marijuana and risky sexual behaviour to quit as it led to early deaths.

Dr Ogbordjor said "when you use them you are going to destroy your life and it will lead to what a shock and gone too soon we don't want to see that".

The CEO asked them to exercise regularly, reduce the intake of salt and visit the hospital often to have their blood pressure checked, adding that lots of deaths that occurred of late were as a result of their own life style.

He admonished Ghanaians to modify their life styles to enable them live long to serve their families, communities and the nation.

The chief of Wasa Agona, Nana Ampofo Adu II, thanked First class group of companies for the gesture.

He called on the company to provide a bore hole for his people to prevent the continual dependence and use of unsafe water.
