Your best is not enough – Asiedu Nketia tells Akufo-Addo

President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as General Mosquito has said in an audio available to MyNewsGh.com that President Akufo-Addo’s approach in fighting the world’s pandemic is not enough.

The general secretary, however, lauded the social intervention measures announced by President Akufo-Addo to cushion Ghanaians due to the pandemic.

According to him, the government should try and cancel the 50% increment in the Communication Service Tax (CST) and negotiate with Telcos to suppress their pricing (airtime and data cost).

“If people can’t move around they will definitely use mobile phones for calls, a large number of Ghanaians will benefit if the president absorbs the call tariff”, he said.

He added that “Petrol has been reduced on the global market that reduction should take effect here”.

The President, in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, outlined some interventions such as the government absorbing the water bills of Ghanaians for three months, providing food for 400,000 vulnerable homes and individuals, giving a three-month tax waiver to health workers, securing insurance packages for frontline health workers, providing soft loans for small- and medium-scale businesses among others, to cushion them during the period of the lockdown.
