Kwadwo Twum Boafo, a prominent member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has observed a troubling trend among members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to consistently find fault with the John Dramani Mahama-led government.
According to him, the NPP, in their desperation and thirst for scandals, are spreading false allegations and exaggerating issues.
He cited the Airmed saga as a prime example of this desperation, claiming that members of the NPP are determined to tarnish the image of the government at all costs.
Twum Boafo, however, urged the NPP and its members to desist from such practices, asserting that the Mahama administration is “a scandal-free government.”
"This government is a scandal-free government. Are we not happy that in three months, we have had no scandals? Are Ghanaians not happy that there is no scandal in the country?" he asked.
Twum Boafo encouraged the NPP to focus their energies on collaborating with the government to develop the country rather than engaging in baseless smear campaigns.
"Many things have happened in the country, but attempts to create a scandal and link it to the venerable President Mahama will not succeed. What the NPP should be doing with their micro-minority is to join hands with the super-majority of the NDC," he said.
Twum Boafo’s comments were in response to allegations made by the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who sought to associate cocaine-related claims with the current government.
He described Fordjour’s actions as a failed attempt to mimic the style of the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who became known for his exposés against the former Akufo-Addo administration.
He dared Rev. Ntim Fordjour to present himself to the appropriate security agencies if he possessed any credible evidence to support his claims.
"Reverend Ntim Fordjour has been acting irresponsibly, using the cloak of Parliament to shield himself. If you have information that the Airmed flight was carrying cocaine and contraband, submit it to the NIB and the Inter-Ministerial Committee," he said.
"He wanted to turn himself into Okudzeto, but he can never be like Okudzeto. He doesn’t have any evidence; all he does is spread scandal. He is hiding under the armpit of Afenyo-Markin because he is afraid of being arrested. If you are a man worth your salt, when called by the security agencies, you go," he added.
On April 1, 2025, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, claimed that the Minority Caucus had intercepted intelligence indicating that an air ambulance landed in Ghana without any patient referrals.
According to them, two flights suspected of carrying cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash landed in Ghana between March 20 and March 25, 2025.
