Young Patriots: Igp Resign Or Be Sacked

The Inspector General of Police Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, an otherwise docile and hands off police commander has found his steam to act after the chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr Afari Gyan ‘instructed’ him to unleash his men on the Ashanti Region.
A known NDC thug in the Ashanti Region who together with some hoodlums have been terrorizing residents and disrupting the registration process in several polling stations elicited a courageous police officer to put a bounty on the head of the NDC thug. The action of the police officer that had widely been commended by all peace loving Ghanaians rather received condemnation of the hierarchy of the police service.
In line with the machinations of the NDC government and the Ghana Police service, Mr Joseph Yamin, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC accused the Ashanti regional Police Command of being politically biased towards the NPP. Ghanaians would have expected IGP to issue a statement in support of the arrest of these NDC hoodlums.
The Ghana police service has never been so demoralized and debased by its command structure as it has been under the current IGP. Police officers are used and dumped and in some circumstances shamed. Examples abound as it happened when the IGP paraded police officers during parliament during a now botched STX parliamentary debate. Again the IGP under instructions from a Deputy Minister of Interior had his men arrested and thrown behind bars for arresting the Deputy Minister for breaking traffic regulations.
The rank and file of the police service is very professional and up to task, but the politicization of the police command by the IGP is a national security threat.
DEMANDS
We the Young Patriots are sounding a note of caution to both the IGP and the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, that they should be equitable and just during this registration and that any move to disenfranchise registrants from perceived NPP strongholds will be met with all our might.
Secondly for the sake of the coming elections, the IGP should resign or be relieved of his post for political bias in favor of the NDC. We have no confidence in him and we reserve the right to protect ourselves under their watch.
The police should be given all the needed resources to arrest the thugs terrorizing registrants in the Ashanti Region.
Failure to address our concerns, we will advise ourselves accordingly.
