'You were silent when I was jailed' - Barker-Vormawor rebukes critics

Co-founder and Lead Convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has criticised what he describes as selective outrage in political discussions, saying some commentators only invoke his voice when it suits their arguments.

The activist expressed frustration with individuals he believes ignored his previous advocacy but now demand his opinion on current issues.

“Partisan clowns in this town are funny. Well, clowns are supposed to be funny. So I guess they are doing a good job,” he wrote in a post on social media sighted by MyNewsGh.

Barker-Vormawor said some of the same people now tagging him in public debates had previously supported actions taken against him during the administration of former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“After 8 years of defending rot and corruption. After years of cheering my detention and abuse at the hands of Mampam’s regime,” he said.

He questioned why those critics now expect him to respond to issues they themselves have not addressed.

“You will wake up and be tagging me that why haven’t I spoken about this or that issue, an issue that you yourself haven’t spoken about,” Barker-Vormawor wrote.

The activist also accused some commentators of engaging in what he described as calculated outrage.

“You think I am a brainless voice on speed dial for you and your fake moral outrage. Everything is just fakeness and calculation for you,” he said.

Barker-Vormawor added that some critics who now reference his credibility had previously questioned his mental stability.

“Now that you have discovered the credibility of my moral voice, you dey tag me. You forget that just a few months ago, you were calling me mentally unstable,” he wrote.
