You'll be disgraced if you depend on 'Green Book' – NPP tells NDC

NPP Member of Parliament for Bantama, Henry Kokofu has counseled members of the NDC not to depend on their so-called 'Green Book' manifesto, ‘Accounting to the People’, because they would be disgraced above human imagination if they do so.

The book which covers areas such as education, energy and health among others according to the NDC contains their achievements made since they took over government.

President Mahama said the purpose of the book is to make information available to the people as it forms part of efforts to deepen transparency and accountability in governance, but he has been challenged to produce figures.

Meanwhile, Vice-Presidential candidate for the NPP, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, also challenged the NDC government to ascribe costs to all the projects it has catalogued in its latest Green Book to enable Ghanaians verify if the enormous resources accrued by the current government have been substantially invested in these projects as the government would want Ghanaians to believe.

Hon. Henry Kokofu noted that “the NDC has not been able to perform according to what they wish to accomplish in their 'Green Book' just because they do not employ the services of experts to do what is right for once, but rather engage the services of their own party members to occupy positions they have no knowledge about. Indeed this system of governance by the NDC is drastically killing our economy, because our leaders think of their personal interests rather than the citizens who gave them the opportunity to occupy such positions.”

However, 'wasteful thinking’ was the word he used to describe a recent statement made by the AMA Boss, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije on the June 3 flood disaster, which killed scores of people and destroyed many properties.

Oko Vanderpuije claimed he was very comfortable for reducing flooding and also putting up measures to prevent a repeat of what happened last year.

Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, he said that Ghana is a rich country that its citizens need not to suffer, but this current Mahama led administration instead of managing the resources for the betterment of the nation, have misused the resources belonging to their own benefit.

“Ghana cannot be a befitting place to stay if NDC remains in government, every Ghanaian must have a second taught about this,” he told Lawyer Tweneboah Kodua, host of 'Adekye Nsroma' on UTV.
