Professor Gyampo’s name in the BBC’s 'sex for grades' documentary has set social media ablaze with some users questioning why a man of such reputation and reverence would engage in the acts the documentary is alleging.
The senior lecturer at the University of Ghana and Head of European Studies, who was captured in the expose has become the center of discussion online, a few minutes after the video was released.
The outspoken lecturer was seen in the video requesting to marry one of the BBC reporters who posed as a student seeking academic favors.
In excerpts of the video released on BBC Somalia’s Facebook page, Professor Gyampo persuaded the reporter to meet him at the mall where he was caught on camera making “numerous inappropriate demands.
What has triggered the outrage from Ghanaians is about the fact that there were allegations leveled against him last year for sexually harassing student but he vehemently denied and threatened legal action.
The video which has since gone viral on the internet has left many social media users shocked and livid over the issue.
Another lecturer at the College Of Education, University of Ghana, Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor, was also indicted in the investigative piece.
He has also denied the claims.
