Nana Obiri Boahene, Deputy General Secretary of NPP Nana Obiri Boahene, Deputy General Secretary of NPP

The deputy general secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahene has told Ghanaians who do not agree with the renaming of the University of Energy and Natural Resources after the late Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, prime minister under the second republic to go and burn the sea.

Speaking in an interview with Accra based Neat Fm, the NPP scribe underlisted a tall list of reasons why the former prime minister should have his name on the school even insisting he deserves more than that.

"Is he deserving of the renaming I will ask? to me yes.. let me state reasons why he deserves it Kofi Busia was the first Black man to be a DC and also lecture at the Sociology department at the university of Ghana.

He was also the first black man to lecture at a university in Holland. History will tell you that he was the first man to head an opposition party in Africa.

He is also the first person from Bono Ahafo to become a prime minister.. All these achievements make him more than deserving of the renaming.

They can continue to wallow in ignorance their unquenchable ignorance..People can continue on their unbridled tribal hatred.

The bottomline is the Kofi Busia deserves more than that if some does not understand that person can go burn the sea" he concluded

Four public universities in the country will be renamed after the newly drafted Public University Bill is adopted and passed by Parliament without any amendments.

The affected institutions include the University for Development Studies, the University of Professional Studies Accra, the University of Health and Allied Sciences, as well as the University of the Energy and Natural Resources.
