You can drop me from NPP Campaign team – Afoko

Paul Afoko - National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko - National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party

National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko will have no worries if he should be dropped from the party’s national campaign team ahead of the 2016 general election, his spokesperson has revealed to Kasapa 102.3 FM.

According to Nana Yaw Osei, even in that event, Chairman Afoko will not develop inertia but will continue to work relentlessly to ensure victory for Nana Akufo-Addo.

There have been calls by some senior party officials for Nana Akufo-Addo to sideline Chairman Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong from the party’s campaign team because the two are clandestinely working against the victory of Nana Addo in the impending 2016 elections which is likely to be his last time leading the NPP as flagbearer.

Founding Member of the NPP, Mr. Ayisi Boateng, has also urged Nana Addo to take his destiny into his own hands as the two are yet to demonstrate enough commitment and zeal needed to propel the NPP to victory. He added that Kwabena Agyepong and Paul Afoko can’t be trusted to lead the affairs of the party moving forward.

However, speaking to Fifi Banson on Kasapa 102.3 FM’s Anopa Kasapa on Thursday, Nana Yaw Osei stated that such baseless claims must be dismissed with the contempt that it deserved.

He maintained that Mr. Paul Afoko has no ill-feeling against Nana Addo and will not do anything to thwart his efforts.

“Nana Addo and Afoko have an excellent relationship, they meet whenever they want to, they talk on phone when it becomes necessary and that good rapport will continue to exist between them”.

Nana Yaw Osei further rubbished assertions of an Agenda 2020 which is thought to be a ploy to ensure the defeat of Nana Addo in the 2016 elections while the pro-Alan faction presents their preferred candidate in the 2020 elections.

“There is no such thing like an Agenda 2020; such thoughts can only be the figments of peoples imagination. Why will Chairman Afoko do this to harm Nana Addo’s chance? People who speak such ill about Afoko clearly do that out of malice”.
