Maverick politician Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh has rubbished reports that he has passed away.

The former Chief Executive of the Ejisu/Juaben Municipal Assembly charged members of the general public, especially his supporters, to disregard the false reports.

According to him, he is ready to lead the campaign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the upcoming elections in the Ashanti region.

Reports that Yamoah Ponkoh had passed away spread in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, some weeks ago.

Even though the rumours spread for some days, the outspoken politician surprisingly did not come out to debunk them publicly.

Yamoah Ponkoh finally broke his silence on the disturbing issue during an interview with King Edward of Hello FM on Monday.

“I even laughed over reports that I am dead and gone,” he said, reiterating that such reports do not worry him.

Yamoah Ponkoh said he doesn’t know the source of that report.

“I was not worried about the false report because there is no truth in it,” the NDC member, who is noted for his tough talk, maintained.

Yamoah Ponkoh indicated that he would vigorously campaign for the NDC ahead of the 2016 general elections.

He said President Mahama had performed excellently since he assumed office and would be re-elected as president.

Mr. Ponkoh stated that the NDC campaign in the Ashanti region would be massive, adding that he would play a leading role to help the party win the forthcoming general elections.
