Yamoah Ponkoh in hot waters

Afrifah Yamoah Ponkoh’s hope of being maintained in office as the Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu/Juaben in the Ashanti Region has suffered a major jolt.

An irate group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) faithful at Ejisu/Juaben are demanding the immediate sacking of the MCE.

They accused Yamoah Ponkoh of several wrongdoings including being arrogant and morally bankrupt.

They observed that Yamoah Ponkoh’s inactions were creating deep cracks in the party so his sack was necessary to ensure party unity.

This was contained in a release issued to the press signed by spokesperson for the group, Samuel Oteng.

He disclosed that several NDC members had threatened to leave the party, if Yamoah Ponkoh was maintained as MCE of the area by the president.

According to him, Yamoah Ponkoh is “selfish, greedy, arrogant, treacherous, vindictive and morally bankrupt.”

The group also accused the MCE of being incompetent; bemoaning his stay in office had retarded growth in the area.

“We the members of the NDC have monitored the demeanour, utterances and performance of Yamoah Ponkoh.

“He has been disgusting and disappointing since he assumed office as MCE and we believe that his continual stay in office shall be detrimental to party unity.”

The group said instead of uniting the party, the MCE had rather created disaffection among the party faithful.

They cautioned that any attempt by President Mahama to maintain Yamaoh Ponkoh in office would result in massive breakaway by some members from the NDC in the area.

The NDC members again threaten to hit the street in large numbers to demonstrate, if the president retains the MCE in office.

They said the party faithful would not support Yamoah Ponkoh, warning, they would do everything possible to bring him down as MCE should he be picked as MCE again.
