Ya-Naa turns down govt invitation for peace talks

Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II, paramount chief of the Dagomba traditional area has turned down an invitation to meet the govt or its representative to discuss the conflict in Norther Ghana, reports the Ghanaian Voice.

According to Ya-Naa's palace sources, the invitation was extended through Nana Obiri Yeboah, chairman of the Permanent Negotiating Team, but the Ya-Naa turned it down because he claim to be mourning some of his subjects who were killed in the recent flare-up in the ethnic conflict in the Nanumba district.

The source continued, the Yaa-Naa could not accept an invitation made by a lesser chief as Nana Obiri Yeboah, who is a member of the Council of State.
