YPYC and ATU organise health talk, blood donation as part of anniversaries

Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) and Accra Technical University (ATU) as part of their 10th and 70th Anniversaries respectively are jointly organising health talk and Blood Donation events in Accra.

The joint-event which comes off at ATU on 13th September at 8:30AM is themed, "Prevention of Hepatitis as a Blood Donor". Dr Prince Pambo is the main Speaker.

"As you may have observed, we have a raft of events scheduled as part of our 10th Anniversary celebration. This one is more or less the health segment of the Anniversary programme. We're doing it jointly with ATU as part of their 70th Anniversary as well," Hon Andy Okrah, Founder and Executive Director of YPYC said.

According to him, ATU has been YPYC's partner for a long time as advocates of transformational leadership. We are therefore excited to do this with them."

He said, "Hepatitis is a big health issue that has got relatively very little attention here. That's why we have chosen to focus on it".

On her part, Ag Director of Public Affairs, of ATU, Mrs Fausta K. Ganaa Kodua said, "at 70, one becomes more health conscious, hence, partnering with the youth on such health project is necessary. This is why ATU at 70 deem it important to collaborate with YPYC to organise this health talk and blood donation exercise."

Explaining ATU's relationship with YPYC, she said, "we relate with YPYC in purpose and in target audience. Our job is to nurture transformational and generational thinkers and our target audience is predominantly the youth and young people in general."ie Students. ATU has other programs lined up as part of the 70th Anniversary.

YPYC 10th Anniversary celebration events starting with this Blood Donation and Health Talk , then follow up with a National Young Professionals Cup on September 14 and Regional Transform Summit in both Sunyani and Tamale.

The Anniversary will be crowned with a Grand Finale of the Transform Summit in Accra and the highlight will be the Y- Innovative Sanitation Challenge Super Finals to find an innovative solutions to the Nation’s sanitation challenge from young people on October 5th 2019 at AICC Hon Andy Okrah said.
