YEL recruits more talents ahead of National Convocation

As part of its passion to support excellent youth talents in various fields of endeavor, Youth Excellent League (YEL), an empowerment programme by The BEIGE Foundation, is extending its recruitment to other regions of the country. Mike Nyinaku, founder and Chief Executive Officer of BEIGE, has made available, a seed capital of GHC2million to support this course.

The programme seeks to train, support and promote youth excellence in the country. The initiative, powered by BEIGE Group, seeks to recognise and award exceptional youth talent, particularly in the area of academia including basic, secondary and tertiary levels of education.

The recruitment mission began in September 2016. With over 500 talents already recruited bringing the total talents recruited so far to 637. The recruitment so far covers 8 out of the 10 regions of the country. This covers ten (10) tertiary institutions, thirty-three (33) Senior High Schools and Seventy-three (73) Junior High Schools (throughout the country) in the Western, Central, Eastern, Volta, Ashanti, Northern and Greater Accra Regions of Ghana.

Among some of the schools from which the talents were recruited are: Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Takoradi Technical University, University of Professional Studies, Rangoon Camp A&B Junior High School, Anyaa M/A 1 & 2 Basic Schools, Prampram Freeman Methodist Basic School, Adenta Community Junior High School, Mpohor Senior High School, Sekondi College, Mfanstipim Boys School, Wesley Girls’ High School, Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High School, Techiman Senior High among others.

According to Anne-Marie Blackmore, Programmes Officer of the BEIGE Foundation, the Youth Excellence League will bring together the best youthful brains in the country.



“Through this project, we seek not to only identify and support these talents but to push our youth to crave for excellence in all they do. We believe that the youth form a significant part of the nation; hence the need to give them a push that will eventually inure to the benefit of the country in the right direction. We also hope to cover the remaining 2 regions before the end of June this year,” she said.

She also added “It is our belief that persons who perform remarkably in academics or whose overall achievements are outstanding are worthy of celebration. It is for this reason that the project is designed to reward their excellence,” she remarked.

Beneficiaries, apart from receiving financial rewards, will be trained and honed as part of a skills development programme run by The BEIGE Academy, the capacity and skills training arm of BEIGE.

As a project, the Youth Excellence League would actively search for, identify and support youth who demonstrate exceptional skills in their academic programmes. These would include youth at the Junior High levels, Senior High Levels and the tertiary institutions.
