YEA has employed 19,900 youths within a year – CEO

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in its bid to curb the looming unemployment problem in the country has partnered key state institutions to create jobs.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the agency with the help of the Ghana Police Service has engaged 15,000 beneficiaries unto the Police Community Protection Personnel Programme.

Similarly, he said the agency in collaboration with the Agriculture Ministry has been able to recruit 1,200 youths as Agriculture Extension Assistants to help farmers under government’s Planting for Food and Jobs project.

The YEA CEO also disclosed that through a partnership with the Ghana Post, 100 youths have been recruited under the graduate internship module.

“It is refreshing to add that, the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development outsourced the recruitment of 3,000 Arabic Instructor to the agency,” he said.

Mr. Frimpong who was addressing the press in Accra Wednesday also revealed that the YEA is about to roll out peculiar regional flagship projects across the country.

This projects when successfully introduced, he said “will create extra 5000 jobs in the various regions”.
