The 50th anniversary celebration and homecoming of the Youth Ambassador For Christ (YAFCA) alumni has been scheduled for August 2019.

Founded in 1969, by Rev Dr John Owusu Afriyie, Youth Ambassador for Christ Association (YAFCA), was born with a vision. Its aim was to reach out to the youth of the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and impact their spiritual moral lives. For achieving the Vision, Campus Outreach, Rural Areas Evangelism, Christofest, Youth Evangelism School (YES), Youth Musical Rally’s in Schools (David Dynamics), International Music Festival, Gospel Musicfest, Jesus Celebration of Praise, Golden Gospel Musicfest, Miracle Festival (Mirafest), Jesus Jubilee, Just for the Youth (Radio Program) Liberty Christian Centre and Voluntary Service for Christ (VSC) was birthed. These programmes helped to draw young men and women attention to the Lord.

Campus Outreach started as a Mini-Mission in schools, colleges and universities, while the Leader Rev Dr Owusu Afriyie now Director-General was working with the Scripture Union (SU) .Results on campuses were massive as many got saved, healed and filled with the Holy Spirit.

International Music Festival, formed in 1990, was one of YAFCA’s activities that transformed Gospel Music in Ghana. It was the first international music festival ever to be held in Ghana.

Youth Evangelism School (YES)

The most impacted of all YAFCA programmes YES, began as an annual one month residential evangelism discipleship- training programme for the youth. Its purpose was to train the youth who wanted to commit themselves to the work of evangelism. YES, over the years has imparted sound Christian evangelistic teachings and knowledge to lots of Christian leaders and ministers in our time. Since 1974, over 10,000 people have been trained under YES. Some graduates of YES who are now Christian Leaders include: Rev Eastwood Anaba, Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah, Bishop S.N. Personalities who today testify to have been transformed through Christofest includes doctors, evangelists, former political leaders, students, etc. all these personalities heard messages of God and found the Lord at this programme. Voluntary Service for Christ which wasn’t a popular activity of YAFCA was lunched at Christofest in 1983. Its purpose was to give dedicated and committed Christians the opportunity to serve the Lord on the mission field. They share the love of God with people on the street, homes, beaches, schools, colleges and campuses.

Jesus Jubilee began in 1982. It coincided with the Ghana’s silver Jubilee independence celebration. Jesus Jubilee is held every 6th March. The difference between the two is the duration which is usually four hours and the emphasis, Ghana. Since its inception, it has not only been a source of blessing in itself to participants but also a better alternative to the worldly.

YAFCA impart

For the past 50 years, YAFCA, a Christian organization, has consistently played an influential rule in the Christian community. It has provided opportunities for grooming young people for the Christian ministry. These opportunities were through its programmes. The programmes brought together Christians from diverse denominational backgrounds to express their love for God.

YAFCA has therefore changed the society and lives of many through Christianity or the Word of God.
