Wreath Laying In Memory of Dr. Nkrumah

A wreathlaying and libation pouring ceremony took place at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum on Monday, April 27 to mark the 26th anniversary of the death of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

In an addres, the Vice President, Prof. J.E.A. Mills stressed the need for a continous reflection on the ideals, though and vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

These are unity, stability and development. He said the NDC government is the only one committed to Nkrumaist ideals. However, these are modified to suit current world changes. Prof. Mills said the task ahead of the nation cannot be achieved by baseless debates and intellectural exercises, but by hard work and dedication. The Vice President therefore urged all Nkrumaist to join the NDC to achieve the nation's developmental goals.

Other speakers, including Prof. Kofi Awoonor and Mr. Roland Atta Kesson paid glowing tribute to the memory of the first President of Ghana. They drew parallels between the policies of the NDC and CPP and called on all progressive forces to join the government to build a prosperous country. Present at the ceremony were a number of the erstshile CPP Ministers and activisits as well as members of the NDC, DPP and affilliated groups. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the government and people of Ghana, the Liberated Nkrumaist Brigade and the Progressive Alliance.
