World Bank Rep. Bids Farewell To President

The out-going World Bank Resident Representative in Ghana, Peter Harold has paid a farewell call on President J.A. Kufuor at the Castle, Osu. Mr. Harold who is leaving Ghana after five years duty tour also introduced his successor, Mats Karlsson to the President.

President Kufuor commended Mr. Harold for his tremendous assistance to the country describing him as a good friend of Ghana, who stood by the country during difficult periods. President Kufuor said with the improvement in the macro-economy, Ghana is at a critical point where it requires the much needed assistance from development partners to sustain growth.

Mr. Harold for his part said with the macro-economic situation now in a dramatic strong position, the way forward is to assist the government to translate its development programmes into reality. He gave the assurance that the World Bank would continue with the good relationship and provide the needed assistance to Ghana.

The new Resident representative, Mr. Karlsson said he would work to promote the needed change in the country because Ghana is being looked upon as a model country for the sub-region and Africa.
