Aggrieved workers of Great Consolidated Diamond Ghana Limited (GCDGL) at Akwatia in the Eastern Region have declared a sit-down strike over non-payment of salaries and benefits.

The strike begins from Monday, 10 December 2018.

The workers say they have not been paid their salaries for about 12 months.

They are also demanding the payment of their provident funds and end of service benefits which have been in arrears for several years.

In a petition to the management of the company, copied to Jospong Group of companies, the parent company, the District Chief Executive, the police among others, the workers noted that the move has become necessary since their contract with GCDGL is coming to an end on 31 December 2018.
