Workers celebrate May Day

Sunyani (B/A), May 01, GNA - The pomp and pageantry displayed by public and civil service workers clad in their respective union T-shirts as they marched through the principal streets of Sunyani amidst brass band music before finally converging at the Jubilee park to observe the regional celebration of May Day was a spectacle to behold. Addressing the workers, Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo Brong Ahafo regional minister said it was time for us as Ghanaians to examine our work ethics and change them.

He therefore stressed the need for handwork to increase productivity for a better Ghana, adding countries that had high per capita income got to where they were today because of the hard work and patriotism of their work force and citizens.

Mr. Kwasi Oppong Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said government business would not be successful if Ghanaians folded their arms and sat on the fence to expect manna to fall from heaven to better their lives.

He said the government needed the support of all Ghanaians as people with a common destiny and purpose to enable her to achieve its aim of creating a better Ghana.

Deserving workers were given awards for their meritorious services to their organisations and the nation.
